Decade.

 It’s been 10 years.

When I interviewed, I interviewed in an Aztec print crop top & had feathers sewn in my hair.

I Started out as a part-time admin who played piano on Sundays, sang soprano in the choir & occasionally led songs.

I met the love of my life at Celebrate America in June 2012… we got married March 2013.

I eventually got my pastoral license & become the associate worship pastor. I also launched my dream “Destiny Performing Arts & tutoring” ministry - an after school program for the under resourced kids in our area who wanted to excel in the Creative Arts & Academia.

I became the “interim” worship pastor in 2014 a few weeks before Christmas.

I had a lot of humbling moments where I realized how severely under qualified I was for the job (still do)

Saw the church transform & pursue the presence of God above all else. God ordained.

Had my first baby in 2017.

Had another in 2019.

Continued to be humbled, grateful, and lean in to this call. Learning every step of the way that His ways are always higher than mine ever could be.

2020 happened. The world broke, but I watched as the Church woke up, arose, and continued to pursue God’s heart.

Because that’s what it’s about— it’s about Him. His Will. His Kingdom.

2021 is here & still I find myself pressing In to God’s voice. Seeking his Will & finding my daily Bread & the door of an empty tomb. Learning that the more I learn the more there is to be discovered.

I’m celebrating 10 years at Destiny, and I just turned 30 in May. How time has flown; seeming like it's been a moment & a century all at once.

The average employment at a church is 18 months…. 18 months. You can barely learn every staff person’s name in that time. After 10 years in the same place I can tell you there has been great blessing in “Stay.” Through all the seasons, up’s& downs … there is great fortitude and humility that is learned. There has been a depth of character & understanding. A loyalty, a love that has been grafted in to so much of who I have become.

Here’s to the last decade, Destiny. Let’s keep Passionately Pursuing the Presence of God above all else. Let’s keep bending our ear towards Heaven & seeking obedience and humility… for this life is not our own. Let’s keep running this race for as long as God has us here. Let's keep having open hands and an open heart, for the story of Gof's Greatness is only just beginning.
